A Path to Personal Transformation

One of the most common questions I get is “What is Transpersonal Counseling” and for some, maybe Somatic Therapy is new too! Well let me break these two modalities down for you and I also want to share how I personally see these amazing modalities blending in practice to support my clients journey towards personal transformation!

I'm excited to share with you the unique benefits of this integrated approach to therapy.

Transpersonal counseling is an approach that goes beyond traditional psychology by acknowledging the presence of our heart, soul, spirit, and spirituality – choose whatever language fits your personal paradigm just don’t limit yourself to language – most of us feel this “something”.

While traditional counseling primarily focuses on the mind and its processes, transpersonal counseling recognizes that healing is not limited to the mind alone but involves our entire being.

It embraces the idea that we are more than just our thoughts and emotions; we have a deeper essence that longs for connection, purpose, and meaning.

Through transpersonal counseling, we explore the depths of our existence, connecting with our true selves and uncovering the profound wisdom within. Nurturing the Whole Being, Holistic transpersonal counseling acknowledges that our personal growth and transformation extend beyond the individual self. It embraces a broader perspective that encompasses our connection to others, the natural world, and the greater universe. Through this approach, we explore the spiritual dimensions of your journey, helping you cultivate a sense of purpose, meaning, and connection.

Somatic therapy, on the other hand, focuses on the body-mind connection and recognizes that our bodies hold profound wisdom and carry the imprints of our experiences and the impact of past experiences on our present well-being – If you’re a reader I totally recommend “The Body Keeps the Score” by Bessel Van Der Kolk, Peter Levine’s work and Gabor Mate.

Somatic therapy recognizes that traumatic experiences can become trapped in our bodies, leading to physical and emotional symptoms as well as the root cause of patterns of behaviour and beliefs that no longer serve us. Through gentle and mindful exploration, we tap into the body's innate capacity to release stored tension, trauma, and emotions.

This somatic approach allows for a deep integration of mind, body, and emotions, facilitating healing and growth from within.

By integrating body-centered techniques, with somatic therapy we aim to release tension, heal past wounds, and create a solid foundation for personal growth. During somatic therapy I work with clients to bring attention to bodily sensations, movements, and gestures that may hold valuable information about underlying emotions and unresolved trauma. Through a gentle exploration and guided techniques, individuals can gradually welcome orphaned or abandoned parts of themselves, grow in their capacity to be with their experiences whilst releasing stored tension, regulating their nervous system, and re-establishing a sense of safety and balance in their bodies.

By blending somatic therapy and holistic transpersonal counseling, I envision a synergistic approach that offers a powerful catalyst for personal transformation. This integration allows us to address your unique challenges and goals in a comprehensive and holistic way, fostering healing, self-discovery, and personal empowerment.

This process allows for deep healing and integration of mind, body, and spirit.
